The title of the scientific article by Dmytro Drozdovsky, to be published in a Latvian journal – “BERA AND CUCUMBER” AS A NEW “METAPHYSICAL REALISTIC” REPRESENTATION OF ODESA’S NARRATIVE
“In the current situation in Ukraine, when people need great inner strength and mutual understanding to preserve joy and goodness, writers create new narratives that call for goodness and love. In the book by A. In short, «Bera and the Cucumber» (London, 2023) the Odessa narrative reflects the desire of people to establish invisible forms of mutual support, which is manifested in joy for the outside world and unity with others. Everyday events involve a stable expression of joy in the world. Odessans are people who are indifferent to trifles, but with the help of these trifles the most important thing is depicted: love between the heroes, trust and the ability to enjoy the world as a space of goodness, harmony and happiness. The lives of the heroes are turned towards the sea; their world is filled with elements and energy coming from the sun and the sea. The article examines how Korotka manages to show the concept of happiness, what means of artistic expression he uses”. – the website of the scientific journal states: “For me, the publication of this investigation has another value – I dedicated the work to my friend, who has been absent from our land for a little over a year – Professor Sergiy Kurbatov, may his memory be blessed…” – wrote Dmytro Drozdovsky in a personal letter to Oleksandr Korotko.
