Vasily Dovzhik translates the verses of Alexander Korotko into Ukrainian
Not so long ago a new project arose – the publication of a collection of poems translated into Ukrainian. This is the third book on the bill. The first one (“Uncolored dreams”) was translated by Boris Chip (Kiev), the second one (“Intervention of the sun”) – Lyudmila Brendak (Vinnitsa). Each collection has its own translation features – and advantages and disadvantages. In Vasily Dovzhik, the author saw and appreciated the professional qualities of an interpreter with a huge potential, and most importantly, with a full penetration into the world of poetry, which seems otherwise to be beyond control. Dovzhik descripe Korotko’s poetry as: “… good, figurative, philosophical, painful”. Vasily Dovzhik is a versatile person: he is a well-known Ukrainian poet, prose writer, translator, playwright, actor of theater and cinema, perfectly knows the literary Ukrainian language. Work on translations has just begun, but already according to several translated texts we can submit that they have been successful – the verses of Korotko in Ukrainian have not lost their nerve, tension, mystical attraction and original imaginative structure. On the main page are published two of the last poems by Alexander Korotko in the translations of Vasily Dovzhik.
