7 October 2020

The name of the classic of Romanian literature, Mihai Eminescu, is well known not only in the great writer’s homeland, but also in many countries of the world. The Mihai Eminescu International Literary Academy has been founded, and an annual Mihai Eminescu International Festival is held. At this year’s festival, Kiev was among the laureates: poet and prose writer Alexander Korotko as well as poet and scientist Dmitry Chistyak. The newspaper “Literaturna Ukraina” (Literary Ukraine) “(5.10.2017 No. 39) published a report of this event: It was a pleasant surprise to find the famous Ukrainian poet and prose writer Alexander Korotko honoured with an Academy Award in the prose category. The Kyiv publishing house, SAMMIT, has reprinted his existentially tense story, “The Moon Boy”. The Associate Professor of the Department of Romance Philology at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Dmytro Chistyak, poet and scholar, a full member of the European Academy of Sciences, Arts and Letters in Paris, was awarded the Mihai Eminescu Medal “for his contribution to the dissemination of Romanian culture”.
