“Moon Boy” — at the heart of literary discussion in Kyiv

English translation of Oleksandr Korotko’s “Moon Boy” has become a literary discovery for students of the Mariupol State University, now relocated to Kyiv. The university’s English Linguistics Club selected the book for in-depth reading and discussion, praising the exceptional literary quality of the translation by Michael Pursglove.

“We haven’t encountered such refined and layered use of the English language in a long time,” said members of the club. “This translation is a literary event in itself.”

“Moon Boy” is more than poetic prose. It’s a journey through the inner world, where experimental form, emotional depth, and philosophical inquiry create a space for true immersion. Isolation, transformation, identity — themes that echo deeply within the reader.

The book is now part of the university’s library collection and will be discussed at an upcoming club session.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to literary scholar Dmytro Drozdovskyi for donating copies of the book to the library — his initiative made it possible for students to experience the unique world of Oleksandr Korotko’s poetic vision.

We warmly invite you to discover Moon Boy — a text that pulses with the rhythm of modern existence and touches the most delicate chords of the soul.
