A new essay about Varlam Shalamov

To the 100th anniversary of the birth of the poet and prose writer Varlam Shalamov, a new essay has been written. The theme of the Red Terror, the total destruction of people in the camps of the Gulag, the tragedy of the Holocaust has long been present in the work of Alexander Korotko. The most piercing lines about those who suffered the fate of surviving inhuman tortures and some – to die, and others – to survive, but all the remaining days carry a pain that can not be understood and realized by those who managed to escape the horrors of the hell of the earth. The essay “Varlam Shalamov, prisoner of the Gulag”, behind simple words of which lie both suffering and compassion, all the same about the strength of the spirit. No wonder the author ends his work this way: “… Varlam Shalamov finds the soul of Job.”
