Dmytro Drozdovskyi, editor of the international literary magazine Vsesvit, shared his impressions of the new five-language edition of Oleksandr Korotko’s poem “STUS”, published by Glagoslav Publications.
“Oleksandr Shymonovych, I sincerely thank you for such a luxurious gift.
I am impressed by the quality of the printing, the design — by the fundamental nature of the work itself and the level of the translations! This is a world-class project representing Stus and, ultimately, Ukraine!
An incredible event in Ukrainian literature!!
Without a doubt, this is something worth telling the world about — how powerful the poem is and how congenial the translations are!
I hope that Glagoslav will send copies to the translators, because Prof. Bednarczyk was very interested in this copy.
Once again, I congratulate you on such a grand event — a publication for the ages!
Respectfully,
D. Drozdovskyi”
“Oleksandr Shymonovych, this book is one of the most significant publications of the 21st century.
Truly, it will enter the great canon of world literature: congenial translations of a brilliant work — the conception is extraordinarily complex, and the form of its realization is equally brilliant.
For the Western reader, it should sound like a Bach symphony for those who understand the essence of literature, because this poem is polyphonic, polymorphic; it is an exceptionally complex work that has been successfully recreated in European languages.
I am deeply moved and inspired by the power and beauty of this edition.
Respectfully,
D.”
