“Stearin rain” in the author’s reading — for the Ukrainian diaspora in London
Ukraine was first presented with its publications at the International London Book Fair 2019. There is the largest diaspora in England, that uniting almost 50 thousand Ukrainians.
Alexander Korotko, who received the official invitation of the exhibition participant, presented his poetry, which he read in the Ukrainian language at the evening-presentation, which took place on March 12 in the “Union of Ukrainians in the UK”.

СТЕАРИНОВИЙ ДОЩ
Із дому життя до обителі смерті
за частку секунди і миті крупини
з квитком «прощавайте» у чорнім конверті
і з вірою в пам’ять своєї родини,
без проводжання, вокзалів і трапів,
без слів, що росою наповнюють очі,
і дощ стеариновий капав і капав
на руки тендітні і плаття жіночі.
Марш догравали зірок мідні труби,
акорди останні, акорди нові,
а небо безмовне, стиснувши зуби,
вперто твердило: ви, хлопці, живі.
Давай же проб’ємось крізь долю з тобою,
допоки в задумі ступає світанок,
стає біля хати вербою-журбою
іще не зміцнілої тіні підранок.
