The poetry of Alexander Korotko was performed at the University of Central Lancashire at a conference dedicated to Ukraine

On May 23, 2024, at the University of Central Lancashire in Preston (UK), they talked about Ukraine.

In particular, poetry about the ongoing modern war between Russia and Ukraine was presented during the conference. Alexander Korotko read out several poems as an honorary guest. A few years ago, a collection of poems, Briefly War Poems, was published for English-speaking readers. The book was published in London by Glagoslav Publications, translated by Andrew Sheppard.

Dmitry Drozdovsky, editor of the all-Ukrainian literary magazine “Vsesvit” and a long-time admirer of Alexander Korotko’s work, also read selected poetry of the author translated into English.

The organizers of the event thanked for the invested time and for the amazing presentation of Ukraine through the prism of the works of Alexander Korotko.

After the event, Professor of the University of Central Lancashire Dr. Alexandros Koutsoukis wrote in a letter to Dmitry Drozdovsky:

“…

I would like to express my gratitude for your participation and valuable contribution to (our) event dedicated to Ukraine.

Your patience and professionalism throughout the entire process was truly appreciated.

I look forward to new collaborations in the future. Also, I’d like to let you know that one of the Preston poets has bought Alexander’s war poems and will be reciting some of them at our local poetry club on Wednesday.
