Editor Andrew Sheppard’s reaction to one of O. Korotko’s poems from the new cycle
21 August 2024

As you know, work continues on a new cycle of poems by Oleksandr Korotk, which consists of 28 poems. Works are also actively translated into English and Polish.

Oleksandr Korotko recently edited the poetry from cycle #2.

The famous British editor and translator of Korotka’s poetry into English, Andrew Sheppadre, was deeply impressed when he saw the text after editing.

Here is what he wrote in a personal correspondence:

“Thank you for sending the variation of poem number 2, Картинка мира; I acknowledge receipt and appreciate your patience as I work through this. I recognize the profound impact of Alexander Korotko’s poetry, and I believe it holds tremendous significance for English readers. His work encapsulates deep emotions and insights that resonate beyond borders, bringing a unique voice that enriches the literary landscape. The themes he explores often highlight the universal human experience, making his poetry both powerful and relatable. I am eager to delve into the translations, as I feel they will capture the essence of his brilliance and convey its importance to an English-speaking audience. I am nearly finished with the translations of the rest, and I look forward to sharing them with both you and Alexander. I have also shown the first five translations to a colleague who provided some valuable feedback that I will review shortly.
Best wishes,
Andrew”

We hope that soon both Ukrainian and English speakers will be able to see a complete new cycle of 28 poems.

Stay tuned for updates.
