A new interview with Alexander Korotko has been published on the Glagoslav Publications YouTube channel. The conversation is hosted by Maxim Hodak, founder and publisher of Glagoslav Publications and a human rights lawyer.
The interview focuses on Korotko’s narrative poem “Stus”, the life and legacy of Vasyl Stus, the inner freedom of the poet, and what happens when the free word comes into conflict with the state.
During the conversation, Alexander Korotko speaks about the process of writing the poem, the challenge of entering another poet’s inner world without appropriating his voice, and why Vasyl Stus remains relevant to generations that grew up in independent Ukraine.
A separate part of the interview is devoted to the international edition of “Stus”, published by Glagoslav Publications in five languages, the work of its translators, and the English-language audiobook edition.
At the end of the interview, Alexander Korotko reads “On the Ruins” from the collection Silent Songs.
The interview was recorded in English and is available with Ukrainian subtitles.
