Today is Pushkin’s Birthday and the Day of Russian Language

To these two dates, which are significant calendar events not only for Russian, but also for world culture, Alexander Korotko wrote a small in volume, but capacious literary sketch on the inseparable connection of the genius poet and one of the most popular languages of the planet. We quote the text in full: “Language distinguishes us from everything on earth. A person is a talking soul, and not only. It’s still a creative soul, this is the Creator’s plan. And we create. Language is our home, and we live in it, and we die in it, and we are reborn in it. Russian language is inseparable from Pushkin. And it is not by chance that on the sixth of June we celebrate Pushkin’s birthday and the Day of the Russian Language. “
